Our story
We’re Maggie and Sam, two Chinese Canadians who met while growing up in Beijing. We started dating in high school and have been together ever since. Since then, we’ve somehow ended up studying together at McGill, living together in London while Sam was in grad school and Maggie was modeling, and eventually building a life together in New York.
No matter where we lived, one thing never changed. Bubble tea was always our thing.
At McGill, it got us through late-night study sessions, exam weeks, and countless afternoons in the library. As life took us to different cities, finding a local bubble tea shop became something we’d always do together. Some of our favorite conversations happened over a cup of milk tea.
But over time, as a model, I was constantly ordering 0% sugar, skipping toppings, or trying to recreate healthier versions at home. Most bottled milk teas on grocery store shelves weren’t much better. They were overly sweet and often didn’t even taste like real tea.
So we decided to make our own.
After more than a year of recipe testing with tea experts and food scientists, Chaqi was born.
Every can is brewed with real tea, contains no added sugar, and includes prebiotic fiber because most people don’t get enough fiber in their daily diet. We wanted to make a milk tea we’d actually reach for every day, and we hope it becomes one you reach for too.
Milk tea that loves you back.
